Family Affair Will Share Rare Photos Of The Purple One At “Prince Pre-Fame” Exhibit In San Francisco
The Family Affair gallery in San Francisco will host the PRINCE Pre Fame exhibit, which will feature rare Prince photos captured by Robert Whitman.
We might be no longer celebrating #PrinceWeek, but the Purple One lives in our hearts, souls, and minds forever. Okayplayer was fortunate enough to get the scoop on an event hitting the West Coast that will give Prince lovers and self-proclaimed Princologists a chance to see the charismatic musician in a way rarely seen.
On June 7 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., interested parties will be able to attend PRINCE Pre Fame at San Francisco’s Family Affair gallery in the Lower Haight district (next door to Groove Merchants Records). The debut show will feature early photos of a 19-year-old Prince, captured by photographer Robert Whitman, which were used as press photos for Prince’s first album For You.
The album also celebrates its 40th anniversary as well.
Robert Whitman will be in the building, as he will participate in a Q&A session alongside Owen Husney (better known as the man who discovered Prince) and demos and tracks from For You will provide the soundtrack for the evening. “These intimate images express the innocence and excitement of the potential of ‘making it,’ and the professionalism required to do so, all the while having fun.” a press release statement says. It is a must-do pilgrimage for those who sincerely love Prince to attend this debut show which just so happens to take place on Prince’s birthday in the Bay Area.
PRINCE Pre Fame is free and open to all ages. It will also run for one full month. Secure you spot to get down with the Purple One by clicking here.
