Yan and Matt dial in to create a song about how the summer is sort of an illness that plagues relationships on “Summer Sickness”.

The colorfully creative (and epically coiffured) duo of Cool Yan and Fat Matt—better known as Cool Company—continue to demonstrate an impeccable ability to create a vibe and engage audiophiles at the same damn time. If you’re still on the fence on listening to the Bushwick-based Future R&B duo, let us tell you why you should come to the other side where the grass is stickier and more fuego.

With a reputation for being tight performers and armed with truly rhythmic grooves, Cool Company, along with their eight-piece band, have flipped the music game on its head with tracks like “Faded” and “Call You Back”. And now that the weather in New York has finally ironed itself out, the guys are back with another premiere to document the life and times we’re currently living in. “Summer Sickness,” a cut we’re excited to premiere and share with you all, finds Yan, Matt and their eight-piece band share just why staying in love is so hard in 80-plus-degree weather.

“[Summer Sickness] is about how only strong relationships survive the summer when temptation is at its highest,” Cool Company said to us exclusively, “and summer sickness is a sort of an illness that plagues relationships during the summer.”

Through a delicious blend of mellow and funkified grooves, Cool Company passionately capture a feeling that anyone can relate to. With a range of influences that defy conventionality (OutKast, Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino) — “Summer Sickness” jumps off the hype train for the band’s next release, The Dose Pt. 1 EP, which is slated for release in 2018, with Pt. 2 arriving in 2019.
