This CeeLo Green Cover Of Childish Gambino's "Redbone" Is...Something

CeeLo Green Has A New Album In The Works For 2015

CeeLo Green recently dropped a remix to Childish Gambino's "Redbone" and its...interesting.

Green's distinguishable vocal delivery floats over the track, which maintains most of the instrumentation from the original. However, he does change the chorus into the following: "So put up / Put up on it / Tell me / That you want me / It's so much warmer inside."

The standout track from Gambino's 2016 album Awaken, My Love!, became the anthem for Jordan Peele's directorial film debut Get Out. The song pops up during the movie's opening credits. Following the film's release, Peele talked about why he included the song at the very beginning of Get Out.

"Well, first of all, I love the 'Stay Woke' [lyric] — that's what this movie is about," Peele said in an interview with HipHopDX. "I wanted to make sure that this movie satisfied the black horror movie audience's need for characters to be smart and do things that intelligent and observant people would do."

"I'm a huge Childish Gambino fan, a huge fan of Donald's and I had him in there to see the movie," Peele added. "I put the song and there was kinda like looking at him. And he loved it. I was very honored by his reaction."
