Beyoncé & JAY-Z Are Officially Tied For Most Grammy Nominations of All-Time

Beyoncé and JAY-Z both have 88 Grammy nominations. They are both tied for the most Grammy Award nominations of all-time.

The Recording Academy might have sparked another "Family Feud" between Beyoncé and JAY-Z. On Tuesday (November 15), the Renaissance artist received eight nominations, including Song of the Year ("Break My Soul") and Record of the Year for her heavily-acclaimed seventh album.

Tying with Hov isn't the first time Queen Bey has made Grammy history – the music icon has won 28 Grammys, the most by any female artist. In 2021, the record was announced by former Grammy Award host Trevor Noah, who congratulated the "Virgo's Groove" singer-songwriter on air for achieving the all-time record. Also on stage was Megan Thee Stallion, who featured Mrs. Knowles-Carter on the Grammy-winning "Savage" remix. If Bey receives a total of 31 Grammy wins, she'll defeat the record held by Hungarian conductor George Solti.

Beyoncé will have a rematch with Adele in the Big Three categories at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, including the categories of Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Record of the Year, where Adele is nominated for her fourth album 30. In 2016, Adele won Album of the Year for her third album 25, where she gave praise to Beyoncé's sixth album Lemonade in her acceptance speech.

In a November 2021 Vogue interview, Adele shared that she had a private conversation with Beyoncé after the 2017 Grammy Awards, also admitting that Lemonade "should have won" Album of the Year.

"For my friends who are women of color, it was such a huge acknowledgment for them, of the sort of undermined grief that they go through," Adele said. "For her to nail that on the head, and also bring in the entire globe? I was like, This album is my album, she just knows what I’m going through. That album was not written for me. But yet I could still feel like, This is the biggest gift."
