The Cast of 'Detroit' Deliver a Music Grant to a Local Middle School
On August 4th, one of the more anticipated dramas of the summer will be released.
The movie is Detroit, and the film is centered on the Detroit riot in 1967.
The movie is being distributed by Annapurna Pictures. And for the weeks leading up to the release, Annapurna is doing some cool things for the community.
Yesterday, Annapurna Pictures teamed up with the VH1 Save The Music Foundation to deliver a $25,000 Core Band Grant to Emerson Elementary-Middle School. This grant will fund instruments, stands, and method books to the K-8 community at the school.
Chiho Feindler, Senior Director of Programs and Policy at VH1 Save The Music Foundation, said about the opportunity:
“We are thrilled to partner with the film Detroit so that we can help give students at Emerson K-8 School the opportunity to kick start their brand new band program.”
Cast members from the movie Detroit were on the scene to present the school with the grant. This included Algee Smith, Leon Thomas, Malcolm David Kelley, and Joseph David-Jones.
