TDE Brought 1,000 Kids From Watts To See Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’
TDE is always for the kids, but this was extra special as the rap superpower held a free screening of Black Panther for kids from the Watts housing projects.
The king lives! Millions of people around the country flooded theaters dressed in their Wakandan best to see and support Marvel’s Black Panther. In addition to boosting ticket sales, a strong and solid few also made a way for the next generation to see their own potential in these superpowered heroes.
Namely, Top Dawg Entertainment.
The West Coast super label that houses ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, SZA, Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad, SiR, and Kendrick Lamar hosted a free screening for the children of the Watts housing projects. Kids living in Nickerson Gardens, Jordan Downs, and Imperial Courts were treated to attend the Black Panther screening after making almost 1,000 seats available.
Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith did the honors by buying out five shows in three different theaters on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Add to the mix that the label’s soundtrack, which complements the record-breaking film, was curated and produced by TDE and you are going to have an epic, Black Panther-winning weekend that will certainly change lives and inspire the next generation of warrior-thinkers.
