Q-Tip Was Obsessed With Porn As A Kid & It's All Thanks To 'Caligula'

"I used to watch a lot of porn," Q-Tip told actor and director Jonah Hill in a recent interview.

Jonah Hill's directorial debut Mid90s is out and coinciding with its release is a zine Hill made with A24 called Inner Children. In it, the actor and director interviewed a handful of people including A Tribe Called Quest rapper Q-Tip. In the two's interview via Complex, they both talk about marriage, why Tip held onto Low End Theory for so long and more.

But the most amusing and revealing part of the conversation is arguably Tip coming clean about his obsession with porn as a kid, which was spurred on after watching Caligula.

"I must have been about 9 or 10," the artist recalls on watching Caligula for the first time and explaining how everybody in his neighborhood had a copy. "...it was like, 'Wow, I want to see more porn.' I used to watch a lot of porn, as much as I could. Then it was like VHS porn, and shit like that. Your boy has the VHSes, you borrow them from your boy. It was the Jane Kennedy sex tape that was in the hood."

After explaining that he wasn't too embarrassed about watching porn because all of his friends did too, Tip did say he was embarrassed for another reason.

"...you are kind of embarrassed because of the lengths you would have to go to to get the shit. You know what I mean? Like, 'Hold your porn, you got the porn? We all going over to the crib?'" he said. "It was very neighborhood-ish and, mischievous, kind of like in your older brother's or older sister's shit."

The pairing also speaking on marriage is revealing, with the rapper saying that he'd like to have a wife and kids at some point in his life.

"...You get more sentimental as you get older. You've probably gone through more emotional things. I know the thing that really bugged me is I really want to have a wife and kids," Tip said. "It's not necessarily one of those things you keep with you that you struggle with, but that's one of the things that I currently am like, 'I need to figure that out, now.'"
