I Love You, Daddy mirrors the comedian's life as a successful television producer and writer

This morning, the Toronto Internation Film Festival began to roll-out its 2017 program. Top of the list: a new feature film directed by Louis C.K., whose output has been strictly of the big stage and small screen sort for over a decade.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the upcoming film, I Love You, Daddy, was developed and shot entirely in secret, starring John Malkovich, Chloë Grace Moretz and longtime collaborator, Pamela Adlon, using the familiar canvas of NYC as its backdrop. The film marks C.K.'s first film in the director's seat since 2001's cult classic, Pootie Tang, starring Chris Rock, JB Smoove and others.

The film will also follow his recent Netflix stand-up special, 2017, which premiered last spring, and his critically-praised FX series, Baskets, with Zach Galifianakis and Louie Anderson as its stars.
