Is it me or has Kobe Bryant become cooler since taking off that Los Angeles Lakers jersey? The retired NBA future Hall of Famer was speaking to a group of students in Los Angeles when he was asked what he thought about Kanye West’s controversial “slavery is a choice” comments the rapper made during an appearance on TMZ a while back.
Suffice it to say, Bryant was just as confused as the rest of us. “What the hell are you talking about?” the five-time NBA champion told students his initial response was. He would go on to say that this was probably the reaction that the rest of us had as well.
Clarifying that Bryant “completely disagreed” with West’s statements, he also was quick to add that West was entitled to say whatever he felt was right because “that’s the beautiful part about living in a democracy.”
To drive home the point of what you say, you must hear, Bryant said that when you say what you want to say, you have to be willing to accept what others say in response, “Everyone has the right to say what they feel,” he added. In Bryant’s opinion, West is someone who is doing “a lot of questioning’ about himself and using that questioning to elevate his thought process. “So, I just take it for what it is, and completely disagree,” Bryant concluded.
