Trump Supporters Who Are Also Eminem Fans Are Having A Dilemma On Reddit

A number of Eminem fans who are also Trump supporters are feeling some type of way.

Last night Eminem took Trump and his supporters to task with a surprise freestyle during BET's annual Hip-Hop Awards ceremony, concluding the performance with a frustrated "f**k you" to his fans that also happen to be supporters of Agent Orange.

Well, a Reddit thread titled "Huge Eminem fan and a Trump supporter" has sprung up.

"I watched the cypher and obviously heard the ending yet I will still listen to Eminem's music because he is incredibly talented and I can't wait to hear what he comes out with next," the creator of the thread,iReactionV2, wrote. "I'm just curious if there is anyone else who falls in this category or those who don't. What are your thoughts about his cypher and his opinions."

From there the thread divulges with users speaking on being fans of the Detroit rapper while also supporting Trump, as well as other users asking them why they voted for Trump in the first place. One particular entry of note happens to be this one, where a user by the name of ZombieEevee wrote about how they supported Trump because their family did.

"I guess I fall into this category...I mean I really only 'support' trump because my family does. (Hell even they only voted for the guy because he's republican, they also think he is an idiot)," the user writes. "But at the end of the day, I don't think it's possible for me to give any less of a f**k about politics. I don't listen to Eminem for politics. I let the news do that. I listen to Em for catchy beats and insane raps, as any normal human being should. If you love politics that's fine, but let's not have it overtake someone's career."

Another comment of note happens to come from iReactionV2 in defense of ZombieEevee, with the former writing:

I never said it was pick one or the other...my post was mainly just to see the opinions of others. And if that's how you feel that's fine. I've said it multiple times that I'm not going to stop listening to em and don't plan to stop supporting Trump. If I hear something that, in my opinion, is compelling to stop supporting Trump I will. As of now that's not the case. In another 3 years there will be another election and if the people go a different direction then we will go from there. But society will continue to go on. There were plenty of rednecks and other obnoxious people who thought the world was going to end under Obama and did it? Well I'm still here in this great country at least...

The irony of this thread is that Eminem made it explicitly clear that he doesn't care for his fans who're also Trump supporters.

"And any fan of mine/who's a supporter of his/I'm drawing in the sand a line/you're either for or against/and if you can't decide/who you like more and you're split/on who you should stand beside/I'll do it for you with this," were his literal words during the freestyle before flipping off the camera.

But it also shows a number of other problems: how just because a person is an artist there is some expectation of them not speaking on politics, as well as the threshold of Trump supporters. It's alarming that, after not properly addressing Puerto Rico, or the white supremacists protesting throughout the country, or North Korea, and simply just being an objectively bad president, some users still support Trump.

This Reddit thread is a great example of why Eminem doesn't want Trump supporters as fans they're denying the problems with this president that are right in front of them, regardless of how civil they come across in comparison to their more outspoken counterparts.
