Making good music is best done effortlessly. If you have to strain or reach to create most times its best to leave it alone. That's probably what makes
The Piece Talks work for me, the ease with which Blu and Ta'Raach put together a quality album.
Ta'Raach's late great collaborator Jay Dee would've loved the production he provided here. The beats are a dope and original take on that soulful hip-hop sound that's been coming out of the mid-west. While the sound acknowledges the ol' school it brings plenty new to the table. "Go!" "CRACHAUSE," and "2.16.05" stood out for me. You also can't listen to this album without noticing a lot of sick voice samples and turntablism. The light feel of the beats works real well with Blu and Ta'Raach's flows. They get the job done from beginning to end, injecting a lot of humor while spittin about life as they know it. The only issue I had here was that "Hello!?" could've been a longer song and I wish they spit over "Activate (Too...)".
And let the CD play after "Credits", its worth your time. Finally something with an ‘08 vintage to throw into the rotation.
