Okayplayer's Spring/Summer '08 Tees

Keep your pants on... but take those old, ratty t-shirts off!  Get ready to beef up that spring wardrobe (it's time to put away the all-over print hoodies, kids) with Okayplayer's brand new spring/summer line of tees.  We've got something for everybody here.  Much of this line was inspired by The Roots new album Rising Down, and you'll see this in the text and the graphics.   OKP's staff worked hand-in-hand with Dizmology designer Miguel Ovalle to create a line that worked together, but also offered up a bunch of different looks and styles.

We kicked it off here with the above "I Will Not Apologize" taken directly from Black Thought's mouth and put into the printing press.  The other two designs featured above comprise our "Space Is The Place" shirt, a very special addition to this line.  This tee was inspired by the late, great Sun Ra who first took the term and made it into a movement, and a fantastic musical idea.   OKP will be donating a portion of all proceeds on this shirt directly to The Sun Ra Arkestra who still put on a wild, out,  psychedelic, spacey, costume-clad show, even though Sun Ra's presence is definitely missed.  More on this special shirt and cause to come.

newshirts2.jpgNext up we've got our  "It's All In The Music" and "The Show Must Go On" shirts, both inspired by Roots songs, (the former off of Game Theory, and the later based on "The Show" off of Rising Down) but with larger messages that encompass all that we do here at Okayplayer.  Not only is it all IN the music, it's all about the music, it's up, down, out, and around the music!  All day, everyday.  And you know we've been in the web game since '99 so the concept of "The Show" going on, keepin' it moving, maintaining that grind... well, we are all too familiar.  In this age of hyper-information overload and communication free-for-all we figure you're probably hip to this idea as well.

newshirts3.jpgFinally, peep our three more graphic t-shirts.  The designs pretty much speak for themselves, but what can we say?  When we thought "Okayplayer" our brains mashed up this collision of musical speakerboxes, show stubs, kick drums, dice, microphones, and more.  Also in there, we've got the over-sized speaker stack, a graff-style design meant to evoke those sweaty nights in the club when you are overtaken by the largeness of the SOUND.  Finally our Roots tee, inspired by ?uestlove's idea to reference the old-school rap show flyers that used to flood the scene back in the early 80s at the inception of "hip-hop".

Most of the shirts you see above will also come in alternate colors, and of course we've got some of them for the ladies too!  Check back with the Okaystore shortly when we officially launch the new line.
