The Hear After
(Penalty Records : 2005)

There are some artists that will have a dedicated following simply based on their output. People will flock to an artist or group that puts out consistently quality material. Cults dedicated to waiting two or three years for the next installment in the artist's saga to fully digest it and inject it into their everyday life until the next go around.

Plans
(Atlantic : 2005)

Does indie rock cease to be indie rock when it goes to a major label record deal? I've always struggled with the label, because although it implies "independent", it's more about the type of music being played than who's paying the artist. Despite Plans being their debut album for Atlantic Records, Death Cab For Cutie has been one of the forerunners of the indie rock scene over the last several years.

Want to know what musicians do when they’re bored? Cop this album. On what is easily their most experimental venture to date, The Procussions give the listener a pair of documentary eyes for ears on their Japanese release, Up All Night.

The sophomore slump: it is the most feared affliction for any artiste. The usual solution is to duplicate the freshman product as much as possible. But Kanye West is not the usual hip-hop artist.

Beats, poetry, live band and spirituality. Black Bottom Collective is definitely coming strong on their sophomore effort, People Mover.

Eyedollartree
(Basement Records : 2005)
Posted on 08/24/2005

Blood of Abraham (comprised of lyricists Benyad and Mazik) broke into hip hop in the early 90s under the tutelage of Eazy-E and his Ruthless Records. After his death in 1995, the group lost its way. Each member pursued other opportunities (Benyad has directed videos for Nas, TI, Young Gunz and others) until reuniting to create Eyedollartree. While the duo was never entirely Hall & Oates-reliant on one another, signs of their extended hiatus are painfully evident. Gimmicky samples and mediocre rhymes hamper the project from the start.
