Video: Talib Kweli Documentary (trailer)
Posted by Shamz on Jul 24, 2008
This one came out of nowhere and definitely caught our attention quick! It's a four minute trailer for a documentary on Talib Kweli. In those four minutes there are a number of cameos from artists speaking on Kweli and his influence. Some of the faces we see in the trailer are ?uestlove, Kanye West, Mos Def, Dave Chappelle, De La Soul, Common, Jean Grae, Pharrell, Dame Dash and many more. The project is ongoing and was started in 1999. I have been told the editing is near complete. We'll be sure to let you know as soon as we get more details on this. Shout out Video Rahim, the films director and editor, for sending this one over.

Seeing the t-shirt vendor getting it from Kweli makes me think about fairness. Hope the production company pays EVERYONE on the film crew and don't just pocket the money. Fairness for EVERYONE.

I've got to second deevee: Black Star changed my life. Still my favorite hip-hop album ever. That and Train of Thought were the first two albums I ever bought (in fourth and sixth grade) and you know your boy got them vinyls. WHEN'S THE NEW BLACK STAR COMIN' OUT KWE?

I cant wait for this joint to drop. Had a chance to meet Talib when he performed at the House of Blues in Chi and he was as real as they come, had his seeds with him and everything. Real hip hop cant be denied!

The quality of Kweli's work is unheralded and seldom travelled among artist's who choose to do conscious music.
He's a true testament of stayin' true to his purpose. Sun has proved his worthiness to our Ancestorz and inspires me to stay true to my craft!
I anxiously await the release!

I understand that everyone can't or won't be into Talib, that's the beauty of this country. BUT...If you claim that you live and love HIP HOP, than it is imppossible not do feel him and his music.
He's one of the New Generations of Black Leaders. Please recognize this...my man puts it down and in for HIS people. He is about uplifting and not destroying.
If it were up to me...nevermind...it isn't.
Kepp doing what you do and I always support my FAVORITE MC...

The Doc' looks well put together, but is this joint mainly gonna be exposed to the sundance independent crowd? I hate to sound like a skeptic, but I don't think this joint will be in Loews' theaters. For the cat who indicated that Kweli isn't his cup of tea, is that because Kwe doesn't fall into the stereotypical rapper/emcee swagger jacker category, or is it cause Kwe enrolled in private schools, and touches on topics most city cats ignore?
If you enjoy the lyrics, rhymes and message, how can u not "feel" the person who creates said lyrics, rhymes and message?
If kwe had Jadakiss' raspy voice, instead of a semi-high pitched delivery, than maybe he would be accepted by more hood cats like the ones who hate to admit they're really feeling the brotha.
But yall cats will watch the doc'. As corny as Will Smith was as a rapper, the hood still lines up early for his movies.

I cannot wait to see this*
Kweli is SO important to Hip Hop: and to me.
He stands up for SO much-and it's not just in his lyrics, it's his LIFE! Kweli is pure truth, and I think it's FANTASTIC and even more so, crucial that he be recognized for it in a documentary like this* -ecstatic.

At the risk of sounding like an avid hater. Kwe isn't my cup of tea. However, I love what he's about. That's what keeps me interested in him. The con is I feel he has never switched his flow up. I want to hear a different delivery from him. The pro is if you were to read his rhyme books, you'd be floored. He is a lyrical legend. He just doesn't have that flair I'm into. He's a dope MC. He's just not complete MC, in my opinion. With that said, I am looking forward to this documentary. First of all, because I love documentaries. Secondly, Kwe seems to be an interesting dude. Peace.
