Audio: Cody ChesnuTT's AfrObama

Posted by gingerlynn on

It's been too long. We've truly missed our man Cody ChestnuTT, but he's back with a serious heater of a song about Obama. Called "Afrobama: The Unified Party Anthem," Cody sets his message to an afrobeat rhythm with some ill electrified guitar and a chorus of supporting vocals to back him up. Even Fela would have given mad props on this one. Perhaps this is a sign of a new Cody album in the near future? We sure hope so.

I'm feelin this*
The first time I saw this guy was at the end of 'Dave Chappelle's Blockparty', singing. I was in love w. him and would rewind the end of the DVD just to listen to him.
Now that I know who he is and what he's really about... I think I'll be a fan for a very long time*

Great sound, Great strength and Great soul. I hear it all in this song. As a Rattler Alumnus living in ATL, it's good to hear that other Rattlers are helping the movement to propel Barack Obama to the highest position in the land. Way to go Cody!

I go to school at Famu in Tally and saw him around a few times.I thought I recognized him from Chapelle's Block Party so I did some research. His "headphone masterpiece" has me waiting to hear his next LP. The sound is great because it is contrasting with everything that is out now. GReat to hear real soul nowadays.

We definitely need to get back to this type of good old soul music. In my opinion there hasn't been a voice this captivating since the late great Marvin Gaye. Keep doing your thing!!!!

Great song. Can't wait for this to be on a full Cody Chesnutt LP.

This song is a million times better than Pete Miser and Jin's Obama tribute. Pete Miser sounds like his usual gay self on the mic and as for Jin, I guess Pete's lyrical gayness rubbed off. Sonically, the beat sounded like some ProToolsLogic masterpiece. Great going Pete, by the time you get street cred you will be getting checks from AARP instead of ASCAP. Cody's Obama tribute trumps them all.

Just listen and you be the judge:

Soul lives in the voice and hands of ChestnuTT SECONDLY, everybody knows that the US and many other "white" countries have the ONE DROP RULE if u got 1 drop of black blood then u a blackey! GOT IT so it doesn't matter where he lived, was raised or all that other bullshivic the dude is black. Aight?! When people say the kat name, they gonna say that black presinigga. Dig it? to the first comment about first black (not biracial) president ... obama IS half white/half black but arguably more white than anything .... dude was raised by WHITE FOLKS while his black father disappeared ... don't forget .... dude wouldn't even connect with black people at all if he hadn't moved to chicago later in life ...

Yes! Obama - first black (not biracial...y'all know the rules!) to get the nod as a real candidate for the presidental spot; the explosion of the Internet; the dying of Clear Channel Radio practices; the major labels finally losing the keys to the kingdom - DAMN! Now is a fantastic time to be alive!
