When we first got the tracklisting for Black Milk's October 28th release Tronic, a few of the songs jumped out at us, but none as much as this one. The song is called "The Matrix" and it features DJ Premier on the cuts, Pharoahe Monch and Sean Price. It doesn't get much more serious than this. This song and the first song we leaked are already worth the cost of the whole LP.

It would be much easier for me to name the underground NY rappers that aren't in this video, than to name the ones who are. Watch the video for Termanology's "How We Rock" featuring Bun B and produced by DJ Premier (as if you couldn't tell). Feelin' the song, and dude definitely did his thing at The Knitting Factory the other night. Termanology's album Politics as Usual is in stores September 30th.
Slow news day, but this video is pretty entertaining. It's Pharrell and DJ Premier talking backstage. Pharrell retells a story about a recent conversation he had with Busta Rhymes about a song they were working on. The Busta and Q-Tip impersonations are hilarious. Then Pharrell proceeds to praise Premo (as every producer should) and beatbox some of his classics. Consequence films the episode for his kyte channel and you can also spot a wide eyed and confused looking Chris Brown in the background.
So it has clearly been a tumultuous week thus far for Rhymefest, but if nothing else some good music has been released in the midst of the fuckery. For a brief recap of what's been going on, some herb "fan" claims to have stolen Fest's iPod (which has his upcoming album El Che on it). Dude says that to help Fest become a better artist he's going to pressure him and the label by releasing a song off the album every week until a single or video is released for El Che. The dudes letter is so "Stanned" out that you can hear Dido singing in the background as you read it. Hit up Fake Shore Drive to see the letter and Rhymefest's response and clarification on the situation. For those of you thinking this is just an industry PR move, we just spoke to Fest and he seemed pretty pissed off at the whole situation...so we doubt it. Though it's unfortunate we had to hear them in this way, here are the two songs that were leaked, "Bring It Back" produced by DJ Jazzy Jeff and "RNQ" produced by DJ Premier. No word on whether these songs will still be on El Che.
