The 4th quarter couldn't be more loaded with releases. On November 25th, Ludacris will unleash his Theater of the Mind album. Luda's releases have been consistently good and the new joints I've hard so far have not disappointed. The latest to leak is the 9th Wonder produced "Do The Right Thang" feat. Common. The beat already had me, and both Illinois born emcees come correct on this one as well. Shout out to Andrew.

Bonus tidbit: The same sample is used by Just Blaze for The Game's "Why You Hate The Game" which features Nas and our girl Marsha Ambrosius.

The Village Voice is on their Real Hip-Hop isht today. "The Trials of Jean Grae: Why an NYC rap star threatened retirement, and why she hasn't stopped threatening yet" is the first interview to surface since Jean made a blog on her MySpace writing of retirement. Here she gives plenty of insight on said blog entry, working with 9th Wonder, and how she did NOT approve the treatment for the video to "My Story," a song she says took her ten years to write and is the most important song of her 15+ year career. Despite that, it was casted (without her) and shot anyway. Lots of things explained in there. We've been waiting for this but one can understand her hesitancy to talk considering the "duality [that] comes from being female [in the rap game]."
After a troubling post on her blog stating that she landed in the hospital, Amanda Diva is back with Episode 20 of Diva Speak TV. Tune in as she takes you into a week in-the-life of the ultra busy Deev. You won't believe her schedule while she recaps her hustles including trips to: Paid Dues NYC ft 9th Wonder & GZA, a salon opening where she interviews Rakim, hostessing The Hors D'Oeuvres, rehearsing for her show with Kidz In The Hall in NY, hostessing okayplayerTV at The Roots Picnic, public speaking, and more! YES, in that order. NO, I did not spoil everything. Watch and learn.
Bonus: Video of Amanda live at SOB's this past Tuesday for NYC's Eclectic Ride... after the jump.
Happy Friday. Once again, we've got free tickets for you OKPs (we really spoil y'all). This time the show is in NY for the Paid Dues Independent Hip-Hop Festival on June 4th starting at 7pm at the Nokia Theatre. This stop will be featuring Rakim, GZA, Blackalicious, Murs & 9th Wonder, Buchshot, Supernatural & Scratch, Kidz In The Hall, and Yak Ballz. We have 7 pairs of tickets to give away, so you'd win your ticket +1 (I know school is almost out and y'all are slackin on ya math.) Along with the tickets you also win a copy of The 2008 Duck Down Records sampler signed by Buckshot and Kidz In The Hall, and an autographed copy of Shaya's album Fallen Awake. Follow me after the jump to find out how to enter.
Many may have wondered what Ms. Badu was up to during the 5 year hiatus between albums. According to Apple, she was waiting for her inspiration to show up in the form of a MacBook running GarageBand. The ease of working from home allowed her to fire off tracks to 9th Wonder, James Poyser and Rashad "Ringo" Smith via iChat, and craft much of New Amerykah Part One right from the crib. Read about Analoguegirl's transition to the digital world on apple's website in the featured article, which really digs into her creative song-writing process.
