With a sword in his hand and a pose that looks like something from documents of royalty, Juice Aleem is telling us that he's not above slashing people with his lyrical swords, in fact he'll do so with honor. Jerusalaam Come is an album from a British MC who will knock down any rapper from any city, country, or continent. His album shows a venom that is inside of him, and by establishing himself with "First Lesson," it's a nice way of telling the listener that they're about to be schooled.

The mystery behind Clutchy Hopkins's true identity remains. But it has become very clear what he is all about musically. Armed with a host of instruments, this talented producer has made his style known like his partner-in-crime, Shawn Lee. The two jump from continent to continent, from one album, hell, one song to the next, and they do it all while crafting sometimes catchy, almost-always interesting music. For this capable duo, though, their latest and second project together falls short of capturing the magic heard on their debut.

Rarely does much good come from trying to relive a moment. It’s how addictions are born; jonsing fiends returning again and again to an increasingly diluted product, clamoring in vain to replicate the euphoria of that first hit. Alive & Vibrant: Relive the Moment, the latest mixtape from sixteen year old, Harlem rhymesmith, Nero will no doubt keep calling to many a hip-hop Pookie, with the blunt tinged aroma of Golden Era nostalgia. Yet, it will ultimately leave them feeling hollow; that unfulfilled jones for the feeling of ’94 only grown stronger.

Don’t let the name fool you – Mike Baker does not make bikes. But he does handle bars. The Alameda, CA native and Honor Roll rapper released this super deluxe edition of his sophomore Now Or Never EP in preparation for this winter’s CMJ conference, and the tasty nine-track disc does not disappoint. What’s more important, however, is what Now Or Never does – not what it doesn’t do. It defines Mike’s ability to establish himself as an artist in his own right.

Sincerity always wins. This should be the mantra for the music that succeeds, and the lesson for that which fails. Granted, talent is also necessary, but if artists could hold fast to their truths, there is no doubt that they would garner an audience, and even sell a record or two. More importantly, they might even have a career that lasts longer than a high school love affair. This is what I’m hoping for fusion band, Ndelible, and so far, they have laid quite the groundwork with their first full length album, Time & Chance.
