Minnesota Governor Declares June 7th "Prince Day"

As the country creeps closer to full-on dictatorship, it’s a good time to take stock of music’s increasingly progressive streak. Hate to give Joe Budden’s joy-vacuum props here, but the decline of major labels makes the music industry look like a bastion of democracy compared to our current executive administration.

Which is good news for us, as there’s no shortage of earworms to take in and help you process (or distract you from) the times. Ahead of that mammoth Purple Rain reissue, a pair of previously unreleased gems from The Purple One have been liberated from the vault as one double-sided treat for patrons of The Paisley Arts. Calvin Harris continued to tease his upcoming return to the funky order with a breezy slow-burner for late-night consumption. Lupe Fiasco returned to form. Oh and Kaytranada‘s still out here providing buzzing backbones for upcoming talents.

He’s featured on two of this week’s most gripping offerings — along with Illa J, Bryson Tiller, Moonchild, Little Simz, Amber Mark, NAO, Hazel English, Mount Kimbie and so many more — in this week’s installment of The Round-Up. Slip into the weekend with some fresh frequencies below.
