Miles Mosley has turned the jazz world on its head with his soul-stirring performances on Kamasi Washington‘s The Epic double-disc release. Now, with everyone buzzing about who this guy is and how he sounds, Miles Mosley has released his own project, Uprising, from earlier this January, and we’re spreading the word to you and others to check it out.

The 11-track, 43 minute effort doesn’t take a lot of time to listen to, but the feels it invokes will stay with you long after. From the upbeat, funkiness of “L.A. Won’t Bring You Down” to the spine-tingling sauce from “Fire” — this co-founder of The West Coast Get Down gives you his all and the least we can do is lend him our ears. For those unfamiliar with the West Coast Get Down, they play a big part in Uprising, as trombonist Ryan Porter, keyboardist Brandon Coleman, pianist Cameron Graves and drummer Tony Austin help Miles get busy.

Miles Mosley, a fixture of the Los Angeles music scene, is a name you should be committing to memory.

Listen to Uprisinbelow, and keep up with the latest + greatest from Miles by following him (and us!) on Twitter @MilesMosley.
