LargeUp Premiere: Martei Korley Releases Debut EP "Kingston Konfidential"

After dedicating some fifteen years to the reggae music industry as a photographer, Martei Korley has really distinguished himself in the reggae world. He has photographed album cover images for artists like I-Wayne, Beres Hammond, and Busy Signal. Martei has also shot endless magazine editorial features, most recently for Okayplayer's Caribbean lifestyle channel LargeUp, of which he is co-founder, creative director and chief photographer.

Now, Martei is expanding his devotion to the reggae world with a move that has surprised many (except those of who know him well!). Quiet as kept, Martei is an extremely talented and prolific singer in the reggae vein himself and has publically shifted from photographer to musical artist with the release of his debut EP, Kingston Konfidential. The project comprises eight complete songs, featuring six originals tracks and two dubs including the released singles “Concrete Flower” and “Couldn’t Be Wrong." Not surprisingly Martei's debut premiered on LargeUp this past week. Get some details below, scroll down to stream the smooth melodic tracks and hit the links at bottom for more on Martei, including his video for "Couldn't be Wrong" co-starring the blossoming Jamaican singer, Sevana.

Recorded at Anchor, Phase One and Rory Stonelove studios, Kingston Konfidentialfeatures production from Mitchum “Khan” Chin (Black Chiney/Firehouse Crew), Syrix/Irie Vibrations and Yo-Akim and instrumentation from top Jamaican musicians, including Mitchum “Khan” Chin, Donald “Danny Bassie” Dennis, Paul “Wrong Move” Crossdale, Andrew “Stringy” Marsh, George Miller and Paul “SCUBI” Smith.
