Listen To This Stunning Go-Go Remix Of Solange's "Cranes In The Sky" From Backyard Band

Solange Is Holding Open Auditions For New Orleans-Based Band Members

Since the release of Solange's beautiful and moving "Cranes in the Sky," there have been multiple remixes and edits. There was the Kaytranada editCommon's remix, and Styles P's remix of the song, which is called “Ghost In The Sky.” Rapper Nick Grant also released a mixtape that featured a remix of  “Cranes in the Sky” and three other songs from A Seat at the Table. And now D.C.'s Go-Go group Backyard Band has released a stunning cover of the track. The song was originally posted at the beginning of the month. While on Song Exploder podcast, Solange explained that the origins of "Cranes in the Sky" go all the way back to 2008 while her and Raphael Saadiq were working on her sophomore album. Head here to learn about how the powerful song was created. In other Solange related news, a new course syllabus is being created by a group of professors and students at Wake Forest University based on A Seat at the Table. The curators of the syllabus are also inviting submissions from women of color ages 16-30 to help add to the document.
