Chris Dave & The Drumhedz Return With Hypnotic Single "Hurry," Announce New Mixtape

D'Angelo Took The Apollo To Church On The 1st Night Of The Black Messiah Tour [Recap]

In the time since Chris Dave & The Drumhedz's 2013 debut, the group's fearless swing-specialist helped usher in the second coming of D'Angelo as the touring drummer for The Vanguard. He'd be praised as one of the few that keep Questlove up at night and later crowned (along with Questo) as one of the 100 best drummers of all-time by Rolling Stone (though you probably already knew that if you'd ever seen dude play.)

This past weekend, Dave announced the return of The Drumhedz, detailing the new line-up (basically The Vanguard sans Kendra Foster but with the addition of percussionist Frank Moka, bassist Nate McNack and key player Bobby Sparks.) They've also released the hypnotic new single "Hurry," featuring drops from Anderson .Paak and BJ The Chicago Kid (in true mixtape fashion.) There's no firm release on Drumhedz Radio Show as of yet, but it appears to be only a warm-up for what's ahead. According to an Instagram post, Dave's plotting a full-length album release for 2017 and if you scroll down his timeline, you can find him leaving 5am sessions with James Blake and Andre 3000. So there's really no telling what's ahead just yet. But interests are piqued.
